This policy explains how the Law Office of J.R. Howell handles information associated with visits to lojrh.com and initial inquiries to the office. It does not replace an engagement agreement or the professional duties that apply to client and prospective-client information.
Information you provide
When you contact the office, you may provide your name, email address, telephone number, organization and information about your inquiry. The office uses inquiry information to respond to you. It does not use that information for newsletters or advertising or provide it to marketing partners.
Please provide only a brief, nonconfidential description at the initial inquiry stage. Do not send confidential documents, identification numbers, financial account information or sensitive personal details unless the office requests them through an appropriate channel.
Website operation and analytics
The website is hosted by Framer. Delivering and protecting the website involves processing technical information such as IP addresses, browser information and page requests.
Analytics requests can include page addresses and their query strings, referring pages, browser language and time zone.
Framer also provides built-in traffic analytics. Framer describes these analytics as using a daily changing identifier derived from an IP address and browser information to measure visits without cookies or persistent identifiers. For more information, see Framer's explanation of its analytics.
The Cookie Policy explains this technology and the available browser controls.
Service providers and other disclosures
The office uses website-hosting, email, telephone and information-storage providers to operate the website and receive and respond to inquiries. These providers process information in connection with those services. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when necessary to protect legal rights, address security incidents or respond to misuse. Applicable confidentiality duties continue to govern disclosures of client and prospective-client information.
Inquiry correspondence
The office keeps inquiry correspondence in its email inbox and does not routinely delete it. There is no fixed deletion period and these messages may be retained indefinitely, including when the office does not represent the person making the inquiry.
Requests concerning retained personal information are addressed under “Your choices and requests” below. This retention description does not limit rights or obligations under applicable law.
Your choices and requests
You may contact jr@lojrh.com to ask about personal information associated with your inquiry or to request access, correction or deletion. The office will consider your request under applicable law and its professional obligations. Some information may need to be retained or withheld to protect another person's rights, comply with a legal obligation or preserve confidential information.
Where needed, the office may request information sufficient to verify your identity or your authority to act for someone else. Please do not send identification documents unless requested.
Website tracking
The website does not use advertising pixels or social-media tracking integrations to follow visitors across other websites. Its use of Framer's built-in traffic analytics is described above. Links to other websites take you to services with their own information practices.
Security
No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. Please use the initial inquiry channel only for nonconfidential information. If representation is appropriate, the office can discuss how to exchange documents and sensitive information.
Other websites
Links to The American Counsel, professional profiles and other websites take you to services with their own privacy notices. Review those notices before providing information there.
Changes to this policy
The office may revise this policy as its practices or legal obligations change. The current version will state its effective date. Material changes will be identified on this page. Any additional notice or consent required by applicable law will be provided before the relevant change takes effect.
